    Hello,

Since I enabled the option “Don’t let WordPress reveal valid users in login errors” the phrase in login page when someone enter with a wrong password or user changed to “ERROR: The username or password you entered is incorrect. Lost your password?”

However I cant find where is this phrase is available in wordfence translation files to allow me to translate to my language. I already tried several differents combinations of keywords and still cant find it.

  • @ruperth2o thank you so much. I have been looking for a solution to this problem during the last year.

I really cannot thank you enough. It is unbelievable that WordFence cannot produce at least a temporary fix like this for their paid costumers.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Unbelievable, they haven’t fixed it yet…
Tried to do it through Loco translate, but it does not work…

This has been driving me insane! I almost bought the premium wordfence. Glad I saw this first. Deleted WF and the problem went away. There are other options out there with less aggravation.

Ty @karlemilnikka and @cesasrgalway . Work for me!

I’m coming from 2025, to let you know that it’s not yet possible to translate Wordfence alert messages and emails into your language.

Warning: In case of a problem with translation to your language in another plugin, there is a 99.999% chance that it is caused by Wordfence.

We use WPML to translate our pages and we found that you actually can translate this string!

First, search for strings in plugins (Under Theme and Plugins localization) and then go to string translations and search for the string in the wordfence domain (e.g. by searching for “username or password”).

Hope this helps someone out there!

    @geenenitsysteme

I’m WPML PRO user and no, it doesn’t work here…
    I did as you suggested:

    <strong>ERROR</strong>: A username and password must be provided. <a href="%s" title="Password Lost and Found">Lost your password</a>?

My main language is ITA and I still see the ENG version.
Now I have opened a ticket with WPML support.

    Ok, weird situation…

WPML stuff created a sandbox fo rme, with a clean WP installation.
I installed OceanWP theme, WF ad that’s all.

The I click “Log-in”, now I see the standard WordPress Error message in Italian, not the Worfence error message with the button “Lost your password”.

    What’s going on?

are you sure that you picked the right translation? In our case we have the same string twice but only one works as expected. Make sure to scan the plugins for strings at first.

Yes yes… I did it in my staging official website.

Now I’m in contact with WPML stuff. They have also this problem in my official staging website on SiteGorund aqnd they don’t understand why…

WPML staff created a sandbox for me, with a clean WP installation.
I installed OceanWP theme, WF ad that’s all.

As I wrote, when I click “Log-in”, now I see the standard WordPress Error message in Italian, not the Wordfence error message with the button “Lost your password”.
    Look at this screenshot…

Have you checked your WordFence configuration? Unless you don’t tell WordFence to protect your login you’ll probably see the default WP message.

    Hello geenenitsysteme,

I disabled all WF options and… the message still here… (^_^)

I don’t know how to disable all these WF messages eh eh eh ….

Some help from WF stafF? ??

Grazie @ruperth2o Sono riuscito a risolvere!!

    Still not fixed? Cmon!

    Thanks @ruperth2o . You rule !
I will log back in year 2042 to see if there is a wordfence solution for translations…
