    Where do I start…
When we wanted to create a site, we bought a shared hosting plan from Dreamhost and it came with WordPress preinstalled a couple of plugins (premium and free) and Jetpack (not pro) We had one-time login passwords and we started building. Recently we switched our hoster and expected to lose the privileges of these plugins, so we deleted them, but we forgot to unlink jetpack from our site. Now we are still tracked despite not using jetpack at all and would like to unlink. I have older pre-switch backups that might contain information on the account used to set up jetpack (but I don’t know if jetpack saves this in our files or where to look). We asked Dreamhost but they don’t have any credentials left.
How can I unlink our site from jetpack without knowing what account was used to link it in the first place? Can you go into your jetpack database and unlink our site for us? We have a site in maintenance mode but its address is:https://odysee-official.com
Please advise me on how to even approach this issue.
If there is any Jetpack support staff out there, you can also write to [email protected]
First time user here sorry if I don’t know how this forum works, I have no other way of asking for help on the matter.

    Hi @kevinstahl

I think I found the account that was used for the Jetpack connection and it looks like it was disconnected earlier today- were you able to get this done?

    Hi Bruce,

Sadly no, Yesterday when I tinkered around I reactivated a jetpack plugin from an older backup thinking it might have the old settings stored. But if anything settings are likely stored in the old database that we didn’t also reconnect because god knows what would break down if we did that. The blank state jetpack plugin hooked itself automatically and I unhooked it again earlier today. I can unhook the blank state jetpack plugin from yesterday, deinstall it, reload the page and still see that we are tracked by the “super” old Dreamhost jetpack plugin.

We use the ghostery browser extension on firefox to see what cookies/ tracks are loaded. It tells me We are tracked by Jetpack with this link:

    https://gcache.ghostery.com/de/gcache/?n=Jetpack&s=https%3A%2F%2Fpixel.wp.com%2Fg.gif%3Fx_stats-initial-visibility%3Dvisible%26v%3Dwpcom-no-pv%26rand%3D0.7981434507390195&v=2&t=image

This also happens only in the backend. The live site is not affected.

I can provide you with the old plugin folder and SQL databases or you let me know which directories I can look into to find what WordPress account was used to set this up. An email would be enough. Otherwise, I deinstalled jetpack from our site and we are completely clean (and should not be tracked at all anymore, but we are by the tracker mentioned above). Please check if https://odysee-official.com is still being tracked by your site statistic servers or whatever this fpixel.wp.com thing is.

    Best regards,

    Kevin Stahl

    Hi @kevinstahl

I haven’t been able to find any old records of the site on our end.

How are you being notified about this tracking? Are you receiving emails about it? What we need to find is either the old Blog ID, or the User ID which will allow us to identify the site and user.

I clicked the link you provided, but it did not provide any useful information about the site. Would you be able to provide any screenshots of what you’re seeing of the tracking?

@bruceallen I just deinstalled the ghostery tracker checker and reinstalled it just to see if it identifies jetpack again or if it was a cache error. Jetpack is definitely still there.
We use the Ghostery extension for firefox (my colleague used the one for chrome but results are the same)

Jetpack only tracks the backend, aka the dashboard and its menus (such as settings, plugin settings etc.). Once I load into a page even if its elementor editing mode jetpack vanishes.

    The Frontend is unaffected

Here is a screenshot of the frontend and backend of our site with ghostery enabled.

I am unsure about blog or site IDs since we don’t run a blog but a webstore with woocommerce and we don’t have site ids because that is as I understood it, only for live pages and this doesnt show in pages only in the dashboard. I don’t know if the dashboard has a site id at all. If yes Let me know, I will give it to you.

User ID of both developers on this site is 1 and 2 respectively.

I can give you temporary login information for our site so you can check yourself but I wont send these in a forum post. Do you have an email I can write to?
