Can't Update

    I’ve disabled all plugins but I still can’t update. Whenever I click the update button on a post or page it just redirects to the homepage. I redirects to the homepage without doing any updates as I’ve tried the “updated” page in multiple browsers with cache cleared and the update doesn’t work.

    resetting the plugins folder by FTP. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    I did the following I found here:

    1. Via FTP or your host’s file manager, navigate to the wp-contents folder (directory)
    2. Via FTP or your host’s file manager, rename the folder “plugins” to “plugins.hold”
    3. Login to your WordPress administration menus (/wp-admin)
    4. Via FTP or your host’s file manager, rename “plugins.hold” back to “plugins”

    Problem remains ??

    try MANUAL updating. Download a fresh copy of the WordPress .zip file to your computer, unzip it, and use that to copy up all files and folders EXCEPT the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory. You may need to delete the old copies of files & folder on your server before uploading the new ones. Read the Manual Update directions first.

    – If the issue still persists, discuss the issue with your hosting provider.

    did manual update, problem is still there, Hostpapa were no help at all. Looks like I’ll have to do the whole site again from scratch.

    @patgeo hold up buddy. Theres a bunch of us who have hosting with hostpapa having the exact same probem here Turns out it is probably on there end they just don’t seem to want to fix it yet.

    Too late I’d already deleted the entire website.

    Weeks of work down the toilet, weeks of unpaid work restoring the website ahead of me, and a very unhappy client!
