Hi — After installing the plugin, if I choose to enable text-to-speech on an existing post and then click Update, instead of the usual “Post updated” screen, I get a white screen with the following:

    “Connection Information

To perform the requested action, WordPress needs to access your web server. Please enter your FTP credentials to proceed. If you do not remember your credentials, you should contact your web host.”

It’s the usual enter-your-FTP-credentials text that I expect to see in a modal popup when I update a plugin. But this time it’s not in a popup — it’s all that’s on the page, full width, white background. And it’s on there twice.

Any idea what might be happening? Thanks!

    Hi!
Sorry for late answer. The plugin itself creates audio files which will be stored on the server itself or on Amazon S3 service (even then, temporary files will be saved on server). To be honest this is the first time, when we see this kind of error, I would assume, that the WordPress installation itself is ‘running’ in some configuration, which doesn’t give access to save files on server. You would need to check the configuration of WP (or server) to fix it. You can also look for your error code in Internet – there are quite a lot of similar questions – which should help you.

    Cheers,

Thanks for your answer. The problem is that I do not get any error codes back, at least I do not see anything coming back.
One thing I noticed though is that the English version of the source language is not stored in S3, whereas the other mp3 files of the four languages are stored in S3.
I listed to these files and they were the most recent files, so Polly seems to be working. When I look at the AWS stats, I can see that there is access to S3, Polly and Translate.
So you may very well be right that something might be wrong with the Wp config.
Tnis must have happened sometime during the upgrade process. Recently I also had to update to the newest PHP version.
Another thing I noticed is that when I asked for a bulk update, i used to see the progress as it took a while. What I see now is that immediately after clicking the bulk update button, it says completed, so it seems that the files are not uploaded from WP.

Does this give you a clue?

    Thanks.
