Cant update or upload plugins in WordPress

This site used to be a wordpress.com site, but I moved it to org and since then been having all sorts of problems.

The themes seem to update and install just fine, but having a problem with theplugins. When I go to the Add New plugin, its telling me “An unknown error occured”, and will not display any plugins for me.

Does anyone know how to resolve this ? Please help.
