can't update pages – 404 error

  • I am unable to edit pages. When I try to do so I get a 404 error whether I click update or preview.

    This only seems to apply to pages. I can edit posts.

    I use the suffusion theme, but have switched the theme to 2010 and have the same issue.

    I have tried deactivating all plugins without success.

    I have repaired tables in phpMyadmin to no effect.

    I had the problem in 3.5 before updating. It may have started earlier.

    What should I try next?
