I’ve been having problems, first I can’t see my post in the dashboard to edit them, I can edit them from the site, but then go to update and get this error
    Warning: gzopen() [function.gzopen

]: gzopen failed in /homepages/29/d229019843/htdocs/theinteriorguy/wp-content/plugins/google-sitemap-generator/sitemap-core.php on line 1756

I can’t view the xml sitemap config page, loads blank. I tried to reload the plugin but with no success.

Also when I upload media it gives me a 500 sever error, but the images do upload, just have to go back into the window then load through the gallery.
    My site is possessed……
https://theinteriorguyllc.com is my site please I need a ghost buster!

  • It sounds like at the very least, you are having problems with the sitemap plugin. I would start by uninstalling that, delete the plugin in FTP if you are unable to uninstall it.

I did…I uninstalled it, actually I deleted the whole thing then reinstalled it. Still nothing, I’m still getting the same thing. Any other ideas…

    Thanks,
    Mike

That’s strange that the media uploader is acting up too. I would try disabling all of your plugins, and trying to use your media uploader.

If it works, you know that one of your plugins is screwing things up. If it is still broken, the problem probably lies with WordPress itself.

If you disable all of your plugins and the uploader still doesn’t work, I would try reinstalling WordPress, just to make sure that all of your core files are okay.

First off, thank you for your help. I went through and deactivated my plugins and then reactivated them, looks like it’s in my sitemap.xml. Just don’t really know where to go now. When I deleted the google xml sitemap plugin then reinstalled it, are there other files that I might need to replace, like original wordpress files. I’m kinda green at some of this.
I checked my google webmaster tools and there is an error with my sitemap.xml file.

    Thanx,
    Mike

No problem debpro. It looks like a new version of version of the Google (XML) Sitemaps Generator just came out today.

So I would uninstall the plugin, and completely delete the copy you are currently using, make sure to delete the “sitemap.xml” and “sitemap.xml.gz” files that should be in the root folder of your blog.

It sounds like the you are having a problem with your sitemap.xml file, so be sure to delete those, and then create two new empty files named “sitemap.xml” and “sitemap.xml.gz” with Notepad or another text editor and upload them to the root of your blog. Make sure to change the permissions of those files to that they are writable. You can learn more about creating and setting up these files in the documentation.

Then when you have the sitemaps in place and writable, download version 3.1.2 and install that on your blog. Go to the sitemap page of your Dashboard and it should tell you if there were any errors writing to those sitemaps.

I use this plugin myself, this is what the sitemap should look like when you have it running correctly.
