• When I try to update my page in the back-end, I get the message: Update failed. Could not update the meta value ‘site-sidebar-layout’ in the database. I didn’t get that before and now I get it on every website I built with Astra. Do you know what is going wrong here?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi @franoordman,

Are you facing the same thing if you temporarily switch the theme to a default WordPress theme, e.g. Twenty Twenty. If you are facing the same thing, then it’s not Astra.

However, if everything is fine with the default WordPress theme, please export the Astra Settings of your site and share it here. I will import it on my dev site and see if I can find something. This doc will show you how you can export the Astra Settings. The exported file will contain only the Astra Settings, so it’s safe.

Please let us know how you go.

    Kind regards,
    Herman ??

Hi, please help with this message:

“Updating failed. Could not update the meta value of site-sidebar-layout in database.” I am trying to work on my (YOAST)SEO and cannot update my information.

Hi, I can give you a workaround: go to the page (or post) you want to change the SEO metadata on and edit it. Click the 3 dots right up and select preferences. Select panels and activate “custom fields”. The page will refresh. Now underneath the Yoast SEO panel you will find a new panel with extra fields. You will see items like ast-featured-img etc. BUT! You will see some of the duplicated… What you will have to do is remove the duplicated ones… So if you see twice ast-featured-img fields, delete one. When you deleted the duplicated, you will be able to update the page just as usual again.

    Hi @franoordman,

So, this is happening only with Astra theme?

Do you have a specific step to replicate this case? I’d like to try to reproduce it on my dev site.

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Kind regards,
    Herman ??

    Definitely had the same problem.

@franoordman ‘s advise was spot on and I could completely save my posts again.

    Using Yoast + Astra theme
