• Hi – It seems that users can not enter a donation value when clicking on a Donation link. It had been zero, but then they couldn’t enter a value or donate,so for now I set it to $25. Any suggestions on how to make this work? Do I need to do something with the PayPal setup? If I can’t fix it certainly I’ll have to find another plugin – but it used to work and I liked the functionality. Thank you for any help, you can see the problem here: https://salmonrestoration.com/support-us/ (same behavior when it was $0 or now $25)

Hi, in regards to your comment.

but it used to work and I liked the functionality.

Did you update any of your plugins or theme? Did you update the WordPress version? Did you install a new plugin? Do you have a cache plugin installed?

What is the shortcode you are currently using?

Thank you for helping with any insights! The shortcode for button with the first link is:
    [paypal-donation purpose=”SRA Donation: Salmon BBQ Fund” ]

Where there is an image the link would be:
    [paypal-donation purpose=”SRA Donation: Salmon BBQ Fund” button_url=”https://salmonrestoration.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/fund-salmon-bbq-pp.jpg” ]

    Thank you, Laura

    Hi Laura, all looks good.

Did you carry out a test yourself? If you didn’t, can you carry out a test and see if you can add a donation value. Can you test using different browsers?

Do you have a cache plugin installed?

Hi – Yes I had tested long ago that everything worked, no changes since then and then just happened to test again yesterday and found the problem. I have cleared cache, and no cache plugins on the site – tested Firefox and Microsoft Edge. Could it be something about Paypal setup I need to do differently? The link to test (and you don’t have to donate, just see that the value $25 can’t be updated is:

    thanks again for looking, Laura

Hi, do you have a value added in the following field Amount in the plugin settings? If you do, can you clear this and make sure the field is empty.

    Regards

    Hi Again –

I tried that (again, it was previously set this way) and cleared cache and still the same problem (except $0 is displayed instead of $25).

When I inspect the code for the $25.00 which is an input field it shows “readonly” as shown below. I have no idea how to change that or what would cause it! Do you have any ideas? When inspecting if I remove the “readonly” code it allows input – although would be nice if it could say “Please input donation amount”…

    <input name=”donationAmount” id=”currencyAmount” placeholder=”0.00″ pattern=”[0-9]*” value=”25.00″ class=”amount_number validate” readonly=”readonly” style=”width: 136px;” type=”text”>

Thanks again for any help, this is really peculiar, thx, Laura

Hi, I just carried out a test and it works well for me. All I did was leave the plugin default settings and add the following shortcode in a post. I was able to enter a value in the price field in PayPal and process to the next step without actually making a donation.

    [paypal-donation]

Can you disable all of your plugins except this one. Then carry out a test. Add the above shortcode in a post and then try to make a donation.

Let me know how you go.

No luck for me, I guess there must be some system issue or how PayPal is setup or restrictions on our server…who knows, but clearly for me it just isn’t working. Thanks for all of your help though I appreciate it, and will have to look for another solution. thanks again, Laura
