• Hi,

Haven’t been able to upgrade beyond version 2.8.5 for ages. Been waiting for a fix.

Every time I try to upgrade all items on the menu become visible to every single user and no role based criteria’s are applied. Our menu works on the basis that some items are seen by some users but other items are hidden from them. When I upgrade they can see everything.

Plus also we just upgraded to php 8.0 and now getting the following errors but only on a few user logins, not all. Those with the errors can’t use our site at all.

    Warning: Undefined array key 0 in?/homepages/21/d4295988444/htdocs/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/wp-user-manager/includes/actions.php?on line?117

Hi @mtgagents2021 can you try manually upgrading to 2.8.16 to see if this fixes it?

    Hi,

Sorry for late reply. No, can’t manually upgrade or automatically upgrade. Always causes the error and the role based criteria’s get dropped so the entire menu becomes visible to everyone.

    Any idea’s ?

I’ve off loaded every other plugin and reinstalled one by one, its definitely yours that causes the problem.

    Thanks

Just to clarify, when I said manually update I meant deactivate the plugin, then download the plugin zip from https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wp-user-manager/ and go to Plugins > Add New and choose the zip so it will install the latest version. Then reactivate.

    Hi,

Tried with deactivating first, manually uploading the version off your website. Once its on the latest version it ignores all role based criteria’s and every menu item becomes visible.

    Any other suggestions ?

    Hi,

When I upgrade to your latest version, it no longer recognises the capabilities set within the User Role Editor plugin ?

Any suggestions on why it’s doing that ?

    WordPress Version 6.2
    php 8.0
Current WP User Manager version that works with User Role Editor 2.7.2

    Thanks

    Hi @mtgagents2021 ,

Could you please provide us more information regarding the specific capabilities that you set from the User Role Editor plugin?

I tried replicating this from my end, but the user roles’ capabilities that I set after seems to be intact after the update.

    Hi,

So we use User Role Editor to give different capabilities to each user so they see different menu items based on their membership level. Each menu item can only be seen by a user who has a matching capability. We have used the User Role Editor to create our own different capabilities.

As soon as I upgrade your plugin, users can then see every single menu items regardless of capabilities set.

I am happy to provide you an admin login so you can see what is going on and how we are using the two plugins
