Can't upgrade network after 4.2.3 update – certificate error

It’s probably the bad certificates stopping the process. You don’t want your upgrades to be hijacked, so security is important.

Thanks James, but I am not clear on this. The upgrade to the WP source code was successful, it was the step where you “upgrade the network” that failed. This is where it marches through each site on the multi-site install. I always presumed it was making updates to the database entries during this step.

Those instructions for manual upgrading, besides looking really painful, don’t seem to address the step that’s giving me problems.

We’re getting the same error on our preprod server:

Warning! Problem updating https://clas-pages-test.uncc.edu/elements. Your server may not be able to connect to sites running on it. Error message: error:140770FC:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:unknown protocol

This warning also halts the upgrade network process for us as well. Our SSL certs are properly signed and up to date.

One difference in our setup is that we use SSL on both front and backend.

That’s not the same error, not in the slightest.
