500 errors are logged. Check your server’s error log.

Also, enable wp-debug

I have tried those, to no avail.

This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.

Ok, I overlooked something when I tried those things. I tried again, and it definitely has something to do with my child theme. I’m not sure what yet, but I’m working on it.

*update-I isolated it to some plugin template mods I had done. These have worked for many versions of WP, but I guess it’s time to revisit how they are done.

I am back to being confused. It seems only to work when I have object-cache.php disbled, no matter what theme I am using.

After much tinkering, I have simply renamed object-cache.php and the upgrade works fine. I am guessing I don’t need that file and that it was added by a plugin that was installed before I was site admin.

Hello – I am having same problem. Once I clicked on the Update to WordPress 4.7 link in my admin dashboard, I’ve had nothing but the white screen of death (500 error).

I am only running three plugins

– All in One SEO
– All in One WP Security & Firewall
– Easy Notify Lite

I have done the following:

– Deleted wp-admin & wp-includes files and replaced with fresh downloaded files via FTP
– Deleted Google Analytics plugin by Lara through file manager
– Renamed .htaccess
– Replaced code in .htaccess to clean code with no plugin instructions
– Disabled plugins by renaming the plugin folder in file manager
– Disabled theme by renaming
– Attempted to attach Twenty Fifteen theme by renaming all others but that one

Do you have a file called “object-cache.php” in your wp-content folder? If so, try renaming it and see if that works.

I did a cursory look for that .php file that you mentioned earlier, but couldn’t find it. I assumed it would be the result of using a plugin that the former webmaster used that you indicated. What file would I find object-cache.php?
