• I just upgraded my multisite form (I think) 4.6.3 to 4.7.2.
I am now unable to upload any media files on any of the sites – jpeg, png, pdf txt… nothing. I get the following error message:
“Sorry, this file type is not permitted for security reasons.”
The error log shows no problem at that time.
I have disabled prop mime types plugin and installed the ‘Disable Real MIME Check’ plugin, but to no avail. I have wiped comet cache and tried using an icognito window in Chrome and switching to firefox, but it makes no difference.

Any suggestions? Eeek! THis is why I’m always scared to upgrade WordPress – it hardly ever goes smoothly… meanwhile my clients are starting to call me up asking why they can’t update their sites ??

See Trac ticket #39550 if your issue is related.

If it is, for now, use the Disable Real MIME Check plugin and remove it as soon as 4.7.3 is released.

Thanks for the suggestion t-p – but as you can see above I have already tried that. Plus this is ALL media types – I understand the plugin is there to fix a problem with non image uploads?

BTW I am running Apache 2.4.7 on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS with PHP 5.5.9

Wierder and wierder… I have found that a user (editor) of one of the sites can upload media to that site. I can also upload media to that site as super admin, but of all the other sites I have tried so far I cannot. I have also tried making an editor user on another site but this can’t upload either…

Anyone have any ideas to help me debug this? Please don’t say ‘remove all the plugins and switch to 2014 theme’! These are live sites
