    All of a sudden I cannot upload images to my Headway theme (2.0.4) or to WP Admin. When I upload an image in WP to a page, it places a frame where the image was to go, but there is no image visible then or when I publish and view; in Headway Theme, it says “upload failed”.

    I have checked with Hosting group (GoDaddy) and everything looks fine on their end. I can download images to my file manager and see them manually, but it is like WP is out of sync with the host file manager;

    Many hours lost on this problem and I am not the most technical.

    Thanks for the help

    Esmi;

    I set the permissions to max level for WP-Uploads, and no change. On my other WP site; when I download a file, it sets up a folder for 2010, and a sub-folder for 11 (month 11) and the files I upload are in that 11 folder. This WP Site (blog) does not set up the 2010 folder and 11 sub-folder.

    Any other thoughts?

    Your appreciated.

    Try changing the permissions on the wp-content directory

    Esmi;

    Nope; set wp-content at max permission and tried download of image and no go; sorry.

    Thanks again.

    Try asking GoDaddy if there are any file ownership issues with the wp-content folder or any of it’s sub-folders.

    Esmi;

    Godaddy says everything from the hosting perspective looks normal and the same as my other WP site; I double checked all the permissions between the working site and the non-working site and everything looks the same.

    I am dumbfounded.

    Try re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

    Esmi;

    Sorry, but not sure how to do that, is that an option within WordPress?

    Many thanks

    No – you have to use FTP (or whatever file management application your host provides).

    Esmi;

    Are you referring to deleting certain files within WordPress and then somehow replacing them with new files? Where do the new files come from if not WordPress–you can tell that I am not this technical

    Thank you very much

    Are you referring to deleting certain files within WordPress and then somehow replacing them with new files?

    Exactly that.

    Where do the new files come from

    You download them from https://www.ads-software.com/download/

    Esmi;

    Do we delete the WordPress files and then do this selected download file by file using the ftp?

    I have not used ftp only the file manager within Godaddy to upload files?

    Again, thanks for sticking with me this far, but I have reached my technical ability I think, so learning from you at this point.

    Download WordPress.
    Unpack the archive.
    Extract and upload the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from the wordpress folder
    Extract and upload all of the files in the main wordpress folder

    Esmi;

    Do you have to delete these files in the hosting account before you do all this uploading?

    No. You can just overwrite the files & folder.

    Esmi;

    I have good news. Another support group came up with the answer that worked. The path in the media settings had gotten changed somehow; when we put it back to the default of wp-content/upload, the uploads work.

    Something so simple;

    I cannot thank you enough for your time and support, you are a champion in my book.

    Best regards, Bob
