When I try to upload an image (168k) in Media> Add new, I get this error message:

“wit.jpg” has failed to upload due to an error
The uploaded file could not be moved to /var/www/vhosts/communicatiestatie.be/httpdocs/wp-content/uploads.

What should I do? Can I trie to upload it with my FTP-client? Where should I put it?

    Thx

  • Change the permissions on the wp-content directory to 766. If you still have problems, try 767 or 777. Once your uploads are working, change the permissions on wp-content back to 755 again and check that everything still works OK.

Thx esmi, I tried but none of the numbers worked. Same message:

“station1.png” has failed to upload due to an error
The uploaded file could not be moved to /var/www/vhosts/communicatiestatie.be/httpdocs/wp-content/uploads.

Ow, I only changed the index.php, and not the directory. Did it better the second time. Worked with 766. 755 didn’t work anymore. Excellent tip!!!
