Can't upload images nor create new users

  • Hi, I’m having some problems with my friend’s WP.
    When she asked me to help her, she wasn’t able to create new users and to upload images. I found a tons of fake-users because she let anybody subscribe to the site. So first I cancelled all users, and kept only the admministrator. It did not work, so I backed up the site, formatted it, reinstalled and uploaded the backup. It worked for a week, but now I have the same problem.
    When I create a new user, I don’t receive any email and I don’t see the new user in the list.
    When I try to upload an image, both from a post and the media library, I receive this message “Si è verificato un errore durante il caricamento. Riprovare più tardi.” (Error during upload, try again later)
    What can I do to fix this?

    Update: I can’t create new pages, an error appears on the top of the edit page ” Warning: Creating default object from empty value in /home/mhd-01/www.esseremammeavicenza.it/htdocs/wp-admin/includes/post.php on line 631″. I tried to switch off all plugins and changed the theme a basic one, but it did not solve the problem.
