I have a new problem and can’t seem to find an answer. I added a player to a page a few months ago (through ‘Add Media’), and added both an MP3 and an OGG file. No problems.

Yesterday I decided to update the audio files, so I deleted the current files and uploaded new versions of both MP3 and OGG files. The MP3 file uploaded fine, but the OGG file failed telling me that file type is not permitted for security reasons.

I tried multiple times, then finally manually FTP’ed the OGG file to the same folder as the uploaded MP3, but it’s not showing in the media library.

I finally tried installing “WP Extra File Types” and added .ogg as a custom type, but still couldn’t upload the file. Finally removed that plugin.

This seems to be occurring since I updated WordPress to 4.7.1, though I don’t know if that caused it. I am using the Themify Ultra theme, though I also switched to Twenty Seventeen to test it and got the same result – no upload.

I haven’t had any problems with this in the past, it just started happening, and I haven’t installed any new plugins or made any other changes to the site. And the problem is only with .ogg files. The server is not blocking it. Anyone have any idea what might be causing this?

    Thanks…

For now, try using the “Disable Real MIME Check” plugin and remove it as soon as 4.7.2 is released.

Excellent, that solved the problem. Thanks for the reply, t-p, very much appreciated. I’ll remove it after the next update.

And next time I’ll check trouble tickets before posting. Thanks again…
