Can’t upload .ppsx files even after I add the mime info to your plugin

    First of all, WordPress says that .ppsx files are supposed to be uploadable to the Media Library. I have been able to upload them in the past. (I am running the last 4.9 version of WordPress. My site is on Bluehost.)

    I made a change to a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation slideshow (.ppsx file type) that has been on my website and working well for about 6 months. When I try to upload the revised ppsx file to the Media Library, I get this message: “Sorry this type file is not permitted for security reasons.”

    I installed the WP Extra File Types plugin and added the ppsx file type in settings as follows, but it still didn’t wouldn’t upload.This is what I added:

    Description: MS PowerPoint Presentation
    File Extension: ppsx
    Mime Type: application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.presentationml.slideshow

    Is this done correctly? I really need to get the file uploaded again. Help please.

    could you share a screenshot of your wp extra file type’s settings page ?
    are you trying to upload the file in the Media Library or are you using some extra plugin (ie: gravityforms, …)

    As you can see, I made this request for help a month ago. I solved the problem by embedding code and bypassing media upload.

    Strangely, I also got an answer from bluehost today, about an hour after your response (and I asked my question there a month ago also! Hmmm a little strange.) Here is the answer I got from them, in case it might help someone else in the future:

    Thank you for taking the time out of your day to contact support. We’re reaching out to you in regards to you experiencing issues with uploading file to WordPress dashboard.

    I apologize for the inconvenience. I understand that you are getting an issue uploading the ppsx file. I have installed a plugin ”Add from server” and I have imported the file to your media section. Please check your media section and then file ”The Blessing and the Battle Presentation.ppsx” is now uploaded.

    Please let us know if you have any further questions and if you could help me out by taking a quick three question survey it would be greatly appreciated. It is located at the bottom of this email.
