Can't upload zip files

  • Hi,
    I am able to upload zip files to my media library, but not to the nextgen plugin. I get the following error.

    Error: invalid file extension: images.zip

    I am able to upload images to nextgen and I can upload multiple images at one time. Problem is that the upload area states “Drag image and ZIP files here or click Add Files.” We have a network with over 800 admins and editors, so if it says they should be able to upload zip files, they will want to know why they can’t. I really don’t want to tell them “we can’t do that, just drag your files in bulk.”

    I disabled all other plugins, used 2015 theme with clear browser cache, same behavior.

    Wordpress version: 4.1.1
    Nextgen version: 2.0.79
    Previous NG version: First time using the plugin
    PHP Version : 5.5.9-1ubuntu4.7
    mod_rewrite Apache module activated: yes
    PHP Safe Mode: OFF

    Any help would be huge.

    @mistadan – I would expect a site with “over 800 admins and editors” might have some additional permissions/optimizations set (possibly server side). One of these settings/permissions may be causing this issue on your site.

    @photocrati – Thanks for the reply. This is happening on my local machine (where there is only one admin and nothing special happening with permissions) as well on our dev sites. Again, I am able to upload zip files to the wordpress media library, just not to the nextgen plugin.

    @mistadan – If this is only happening on your “local” and “dev” installations then I would suspect something similar in their settings … you could try using the Reset Option under Gallery > Other Options to see if that helps.

    I too am unable to upload any zip files. Until the last WP upgrade I have loaded dozens of zip files, but now none will upload. I have deactivated all my plugins hoping that would help, but still no go. Any suggestions?
