We just launched our site and it won’t accept enough characters for an AMEX card. We tried this on both phone and desktop. The card number field is really wide (goes off screen) and the CVV only accepts three digits. Amex cards are included in the settings in the backend and the same card, used directly in the Squareup Dashboard works fine. The issue is with the WooCommerce form only.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @2chicks

I took a look at your site and the reason why you were not able to add four digits to the CVV is that an actual AmEx card number was not entered:

Once I added a test AmEx number to the card field, it shows that it registers as an AmEx card, therefore you can add the four digits.

When no card number is there, it defaults to 3 for Visa/Mastercard.

Could you please verify if you’re able to put the four-digit CVV after adding the AmEx card number that shows the AmEx logo in that same field?

What is strange is that when I try the test number it works fine, but when we enter a real AMEX card, it doesn’t. Do you think the card might have been a non-American issued card and so the prefix wasn’t recognized as an AMEX? I know Square only accepts American issued cards. We didn’t ask the customer where his card was issued because he had a US addy. But he lives near the Canadian border, and does business in CA, so maybe it was a Canadian card.

Any clue why the input field is so wide? It falls off the side of the form.

    Hi, @2chicks!

It’s difficult to say, but the card being a non-American issued card normally shouldn’t be a problem. Square lists the cards they accept here, and if the card works in your Squareup Dashboard, as you mentioned, it should also work on your site’s form.

When entering the card on your site, was the user receiving any error messages?

I looked at your site’s checkout page, and I do see that the card number field is too wide. When testing with a default theme like Storefront, the issue is not present:

In your case, the issue is most likely being caused by your site’s theme. One way you can check is by temporarily changing to a default theme like Storefront and seeing if the issue persists. Once you’ve confirmed that the issue is from your theme, you can contact your site’s theme developer for them to make any needed changes.

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – if you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.
