So we have been with Omnisend for a bit over a month. Was a close call between them and Klaviyo – seems the features are the same, but Klaviyo is more expensive and the support is less responsive.

Well, now I’m wondering, maybe you don’t need Klaviyo support as much as you need Omnisend support? I have to say I’ve had to contact them over and over again for small things.

However, the latest thing is extremely concerning. We use a staging site to test new plugin capability and regularly make copies of our live site to our staging site. A few days ago, doing this caused the staging site to OVERWRITE our URL in our contact information, changing our URL to the staging site in all of our automations and automatic URLS (like recommended products).

The solution? Oh, just disable the plugin on the staging site each time.

“If there are any tests you need to redo, you can easily replicate them on the live website later.”

TESTING ON THE LIVE SITE? Come on guys.

So now I cannot test their plugin with any other new plugin at any time or risk our URL being overwritten with the staging URL. Like I don’t even know what to do now. So unprofessional. I wish we went with Klaviyo.

Hello, thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We apologize for the inconvenience you’ve experienced.

Testing on the live site is definitely not recommended. Many brands today utilize staging sites, and a suggested approach in this scenario is to create a new free brand in your Omnisend account specifically for testing purposes, and then connect it to your staging site.

You can find a step-by-step guide described in this knowledge base article. If you have further questions, please reach out to our support team.

    Hi there,

I hope this message finds you well. Following up on your previous feedback regarding the issues you encountered with the staging site process, I wanted to update you on the significant improvements we have made to the Omnisend plugin.

We took your feedback seriously and have implemented changes to ensure a more reliable and user-friendly experience when cloning your WooCommerce store for testing purposes.

Key Improvements to the Cloning Process:

    • Automatic Environment Distinction: The Omnisend plugin now automatically distinguishes between your production and staging environments. When you clone your store, the plugin will automatically disconnect the staging environment from sending data to your live store. This prevents any accidental overwriting of URLs or data in your live automations.
    • Test Brand Connection: Your staging environment will now connect to a test brand. This isolation ensures that any tests conducted in the staging environment do not affect your live store, preserving the integrity of your live data and settings.
    • Brand Name Display: To facilitate easy management, the Omnisend plugin displays the brand name it is connected to. This feature helps you quickly identify whether you are working in the test or live environment, reducing the risk of errors.

Updated Steps to Set Up a Staging Environment:

    1. Clone Your Store: Create a clone of your production store to establish a safe environment for testing.
    2. Connect Staging Plugin to Test Brand: In your cloned store, connect the Omnisend plugin to a test brand. This setup ensures that all test activities remain isolated from your live environment.

    Important Notes:

    • Automatic Disconnect: Upon creating a production copy, the staging plugin will automatically disconnect from the main store, ensuring no data is sent back to the production environment.
    • Brand Name Display: The brand name will be clearly shown in the Omnisend plugin, making it easier to distinguish between test and live environments.

More about it in our guide below:

We believe these enhancements will provide you with a more secure and efficient testing environment, allowing you to conduct necessary tests without any risk to your live store.

Thank you for your patience and for giving us the opportunity to improve our services. Our senior representative has reached out to you via chat to discuss these updates in detail and to assist you further.
