Can't use web fonts

Hi There using your theme, here it looks great right out of the box. But I am trying to add my own web fonts, and for some reason when I test it out in google inspect element and change the font family of .site-title for example, the test disappears then returns as Times New Roman. Any thoughts as to why this might be happnening?
