    Ok. I get it. This is not a bug.
    It is expected to be like this.

    It blocks frontend AJAX calls because it not only blocks wp-login.php,
    but also wp-admin folder.

    Do note the option name – is is quite clear:

    Hide “wp-login.php” and “wp-admin” folder

    And admin-ajax.php is inside wp-admin folder ??

    Anyway, I think that authors should separate these two options.

    – Hide “wp-login.php”
    – Hide “wp-admin” folder
