• I went to Bing Webmaster Tools last evening and apparently I needed to re-verify my site. They provided a new meta tag which I cut and pasted and replaced the old one. I noticed in view search of the page that in fact the tag was there but when I try to verify within Bing Webmaster Tools it returns gracessweetlife.com is not verified. Can anyone offer some assistance?

  • Try the .html file option. It also has the advantage of not being a file that will get overwritten with theme edits or updates.

I’m sorry I don’t know what you mean could you elaborate?

One of the options for verifying with Bing Webmaster tools is to upload a file called BingSiteAuth.xml (Sorry. I thought it was an html file but it is actually .xml) Bing will generate it for you. That file contains your key. All you need to do is upload it to your server.

I’m not sure how to do that.

Sign in to your Bing Webmaster tools account. One of the options you can find there is by uploading the BingSiteAuth.xml file. Download it, and upload the same file to your site’s root directory. You can upload it either through FTP or Cpanel. After uploading, CLICK verify at Bing Webmaster tools.
