Can't view images, just generic thumbnails

I’m new to WP and figuring out how plug-ins work. Selected this plug-in because is was supposedly compatible with the Encounters theme I’m using. Uploade pics and rearranged them easily, then saved, and now only a black/white generic image is visible. What is the problem?
