Can’t view images on my Front Page – only once you enter the post themslves?

Hello I’m a newbie,

I’m an ICT teacher for a UK secondary school and have created a Blog style website for my school. My issue is:

I can’t view images on the Home Page itself. I can load images and video just fine but need to click into the Post order to view them. If I add text either around or after the image I can see the text on the front page but need click into the post to view the image.

I have tested my image loading technique on a test site I have:

and the images load just fine admittedly it is a different theme and this could be the issue – could anyone have a look and suggest how to fix this?

Part of the brief I was given is we want to have pictures of the kids on the front page and be able to click on them in order to read the post information. Which is the opposite of what I have?
