    Can you please capture the console and check the log file

    I have been having this same issue for a while, the plugin is still running in the background but I can not access it, I get a 500 error instantly as well. my logs say:

    PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 536870912 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 266350592 bytes) in /wp-content/plugins/expresstechsoftwares-memberpress-discord-add-on/admin/partials/pages/memberpress-discord-error-log.php on line 8

    When I review my php info in WordPress Tools > Info I see PHP memory limit set to 512M.

    Any idea what is happening?

    how many discord roles do you have in the server you are connecting?

    I have probably about 20 roles and will increase over time. LMK if I should open a separate ticket, I don’t want to hijack @fenix33, just looked like the same issue maybe

    @vanbom We only use three roles for connecting Discord and the website, whereas the Discord server itself contains a multitude of roles, totaling more than 20.

    It seems like your site has hit the memory limit.

    To quickly resolve this, consider deleting the log file located in the ‘wp-content’ folder, as it appears to be consuming a significant amount of memory.

    Great catch! Thank you for the help! Deleting this file did the trick: /wp-content/plugins/expresstechsoftwares-memberpress-discord-add-on/admin/partials/pages/memberpress-discord-error-log.php

    Do I need to have that file? I also see a message that says” MemberPress – Discord logging is currently enabled….” maybe it should be disabled to avoid this?


    However, another thing I run into is that the plugin page doesn’t load correctly. Sometimes it would load the 500 error and sometimes a broken page, now that it isn’t loading that 500 error after deleting the log file, all of my memberpress memberships in the dashboard get loaded in a stack, it looks like the styling isn’t applied to the plugin at all, and I can’t use anything on the dashboard. I don’t see anything in the console.

    This has happened in the past and a coworker left it up on his desktop with the broken layout a few weeks ago, it finally loaded correctly and he could use it about 10 minutes later. I don’t see any indication that my page is still loading, and haven’t seen it load after leaving it for about 20 minutes.

    Does that ring a bell with anything else you’ve seen in the past? @vanbom

    You can temporarily disable logging through the plugin’s advanced settings. This will help mitigate the memory limit issue caused by the log file size until the new version is available.

    @vanbom that is fantastic news! Do you know when the update will likely roll out? We are running into an issue where the plugin is unusable for us and we need to add new roles. Memberpress recommends using Zapier instead if this plugin is having issues, do you know if moving to Zapier in the meantime would require everyone to re-connect their discord, and then vice versa if we move back after the update is live?

    The plugin also seems to drop off roles on subscription renewal, they come back about a day later. Would really prefer to keep using this plugin opposed to going to Zapier.

    Can’t use the plugin to disable logging through the plugin’s advanced settings as it doesn’t load correctly to let me use it.

    @fenix33 is everything working for you?

    @vanbom I had 11 recurring subs drop discord roles today, the only fix i’ve been able to discover is to go into their latest transaction in memberpress and “update” the expiration date time and it pushes it like its a new transaction and will assign the role and the role sticks

    Any idea why this happens or how I can prevent in the future?

    @fenix33 if you’re having trouble getting the plugin to load, the error file I found in this thread above was the wrong one to delete. That file is required for the plugin to work.

    I discovered later that the correct error file to delete is wp-content/{XXXXX}discord_api_logs.txt

    When deleted, a new empty file of the same name gets recreated. I guess that error file gets so big it overloads the server. You should also be able to disable error logging in the plugin settings after you get it up and running to prevent it from happening in the future. (I personally haven’t done this since the plugin has been so finicky for me)

    If you’re talking about the dropped subs comment, I believe that was a problem with Authorize.net for us. They sent out an email a couple weeks ago saying that some of the memberships weren’t posting correctly due to an error on their end, but hasn’t been an issue since they said they fixed it.
