Here’s the test. Installed the free version with every intention of buying pro despite all the negative reviews. Tried to upload photos to make a test gallery and got “can’t write to directory please check permissions….”
    What’s up with that.

The response time and content will be worth $99 or I’ll move on knowing the crappy support reviews are actually true.
    Thanks

@costaricaguide – Permissions messages such as that often refer to your site’s file and folder permissions. Please ensure the gallery files an folders are inheriting the correct permissions from the /wp-content/ folder (equivalent to 0755 and 0644 or higher for folders and files respectively).

    Thanks!

I installed from the CP. Are there instructions for manually setting the file permissions after installation? What files and folders does nextgen create and which of those need to be modified?

I’ve installed a couple other galleries to test and there don’t seem to be any problems with permissions.

    Thanks.

@costaricaguide – If you are unsure of the file and folder permissions it may be best to work with your web hosting provider to make certain they are correct and will remain correct going forward.

I’m comfortable modifying permissions I was just hoping for a list of which nextgen files and folders are causing the issue. My host won’t know anything about nextgen structure and function.

@costaricaguide – Provided the folders and files are inheriting the permissions as noted above you should be fine from that aspect.
