Cant′t edit my Theme!

  • Dear Members.

    Something has happend in my Admin-area:
    I can′t edit my theme!

    I click on:
    – Presentation
    — Theme Editor
    Shows: Editing style.css

    NOW – when I try to edit, for example, Sidebar – the editor shows me the style.css again! Whatever I try to edit it just come up with style.css

    The pathway I get when I click to edit is (efter my domainname):

    /wp-admin/theme-editor.php?file=wp-content/themes/Sky3c/sidebar.php&theme=Sky3c

    How can I fix this big problem!?

  • Edit the files on your computer and upload them via FTP.
    1. You’ll never have this kind of problems.
    2. It is much safer because you don’t have to make your files “writable” (chmod 666) – which is an invitation for all the hackers out there ??

    Sorry to re-open this post, but well am facing a similar problem with this (beautiful) theme.

    Just downloaded the WordPress (a friend did it for me, put the desired template as well) – am kind’off a newbie in this Wp world (a bit lost to be honest – too many pages, too many links) – do understand some css and html – used to be on beta-Blogger and tweak its codes a bit… but well this is a totally new world.

    The point is I am trying to get the “about” link working (page is created – “blog.localingo.com/about” works). the main page is “www.blog.localingo.com”.
    There is no header.php file existing in the host server (a wp-blog-header ; but with a totally different code).
    For security reasons, I’d rather not use this (nice though) permissions applet.

    Help appreciated ??

    Official help and explanation should be better drafted – not that easy for a newbie.

    ANYONE can edit the codex. It’s ALL volunteer driven. Roll up your sleeves and wade in. ??
