I’m having this same problem too. Permissions changes haven’t fixed the situation.

Also, reviewed the Why do I get “ERROR: Could not read CAPTCHA cookie.”?” FAQ and seems like that information may be out of date:

Alternatively, you can enable the setting on the contact form options page “Use CAPTCHA without PHP Session”

This setting doesn’t appear to be available anymore.

Having the same problem here. I believe this started happening with the latest update. I had to disable captcha as it wouldn’t work in Safari and Chrome (would however work fine in Firefox). I also read the FAQs and there was no fix for my problem.

The setting “Use CAPTCHA without PHP Session” has been removed because sessions are required now.

Has anyone resolved this??? I am having the same kind of errors. Firefox works fine but Chrome and IE are showing errors:

    IE: “That CAPTCHA was incorrect.”
Chrome: “That CAPTCHA was incorrect.” and “Could not read CAPTCHA cookie. Try again.”

Unfortunately I haven’t been able to fix this. I’m just thinking about using a different form plugin altogether.

@deano Still can’t find a fix about this. I thought I was the only one having problems about this.

I already tried disabling all the other plugins but it still won’t work for me.

Do you have any cache plugins installed?
If you have W3 Total Cache, the database cache and object cache have to be disabled or there will be sessions problems.

Yes I have, but now I receive 20-30 spam emails a day ??

Same as sebastienpage, even though I turn on and update Akismet Spam Check

Do you have W3 Total Cache? or any other Cache plugin?

Nope don’t have any of that

@mike. nginx is what we use for caching. no plugin

I have W3 Total Cache. Why do you ask?

If you have W3 Total Cache, the database cache and object cache have to be disabled.
