CAPTCHA problem

I’m trying to add a CAPTCHA field to my signup… the “Form Element” and “Validation” both are set to CAPTCHA, and “Signup” and “Read Only” are both checked. But it does not appear on the signup form at all. Are there other settings or Values that have to be entered? I’ve checked re-checked the docs, but I can’t see what I’m missing…
