Captcha problem, can’t send

User fills form, clicks submit, error is shown which is the default text for the “Sender’s message failed to send” status:

"Failed to send your message. Please ensure captcha verification is complete and try again."

There’s a console error on the front end and I’m not sure if that’s new:

Uncaught TypeError: e.indexOf is not a function
    at ce.fn.load (jquery.min.js?ver=3.7.1:2:82864)
    at main.js:624:16

We’re running Google ReCaptcha V3 for several years, no changes made. Worked fine until plugin/WP update a few weeks ago. Disabling all plugins except for CF7 has no effect.

Is this a possible outcome for an invalid from/to address? What else to check?
