Caption Contest

Make a new blog post. Add image. Let people comment? ??

Haha, sometimes the most simple explanation is the best, right?

I’m looking for more of a static image that will go on the right side above all the links with a little link where people can email submissions. I would like to have it unrelated from my posts. Thanks for the idea though.

Widgets would do what you wanted, provided your sidebar template was coded to accommodate this. ie: right column above your navigational links.

It wouldn’t be difficult to do.

You could use a static pic, with email link for submissions, and change the piccy weekly but keep the structural design intact.

Then, underneath the piccy you could use Coffee2Cup plugin or something similar to pull the latest comment captions that relate directly to that caption and display them underneath.

And now that I’m thinking about it, you may be better off to designate each caption to a caption specific category. You can omit both category and posts and directional links from ever showing anywhere on your site, except for the caption area perhaps in your sidebar.

And, if you made it a category / post, you could have an archives section strictly for captions for viewers interested in seeing other funny captions and comments.

Just a thought.
