Caption text should not be in RSS

I started using captions on images around 2.6, and still on 2.7 am seeing that the caption tags added to the post text are being returned as part of the RSS feed for my site. This is also happening in some other contexts, such as the pingbacks and in the Yet Another Related Posts plugin.

Seems to me that caption data is meta-data related to the image, rather than content and should not be returned.

I like the caption feature and styling on my posts but don’t want it in raw text. Is there a non-hacky way to accomplish this?
