Captions and Alt Text disappeared

    Hello, we enabled your plugin about 3 weeks ago. It did change all the photos to webp. No problem there. But we just realized that all the captions and alt text were wiped out. Image captions and alt text are still in media library but no longer inside the posts.

    This is a huge hit on us. Site has over 1,000 pics.

    My questions:

    1. Is there a way to restore our captions and alt tags and still keep the webp pics.

    2. Is not, would disactivating the plug restore how the posts were before (with captions and alt tags) or it’s too late for that too?

    Hi @polaatx,

    Thank you for your message.

    The plugin does not change the HTML code or alt attributes of images. Not even any function in the plugin code that could do this. The source of the problem must be different – it’s definitely not our plugin.

    After making searching through many backups of database, we’ve found that our captions and alt tags disappeared sometime on Sept 25.

    I know this is not related to your plugin. If it was you, how would you go about finding out what caused this? I’m just stumped for an answer. And I’m sorry to take your time again.

    @polaatx Unfortunately, I have no idea what you were doing on your website, what plugins you had, or what they might have done.

    Hello, thank you for your reply.

    I totally understand and I posted my issue on the beginner’s wp forum. https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/captions-and-alt-tags-disappeared/ along with error logs from that day.

    We thoughts the issue had to do with your plugin but now realize we activated your plugin Sept 17 but the issue with missing captions and alt tags started Sept 25, db backups show.
