Captions Under Images in Gallery Not Showing Up

  • Hello:

    When I attempt to make captions (or text that can go directly under images) in a standard wordpress gallery, nothing shows up.

    Can anyone help me figure out why?

  • The theme overrides the wordpress gallery, you can turn this off though in the theme options > misc settings. Turn the virtue galleries off.

    I know that the fix above solves the problem. However in my case I would like to keep the theme’s styling to the gallery but just add captions under the images in the galley view. I am very comfortable adding code I am just not quite sure what code and where I need to put it.

    First this is an option in the premium version, in free you have to edit the code in lib/gallery.php you would need to call in the image caption.

    I would recommend that you copy the gallery shortcode function into a child theme, turn off the one in the parent theme so that it doesn’t conflict and you don’t loose your changes when you update.
