I find that the plugin Related Posts for WordPress captures many posts from all sources and 90% of the content doesn’t even refer to the post article I am trying to link to. So, when I click on the Add Related Posts, I still see a lot of non-related posts. My concern is that before I select the Add Related Posts, I have to save the post or lose it because it leaves the post I have drafted. If I publish it first, then when I clean up the non-related posts and attempt to locate other posts that show when adding related posts, it creates an “Update” meaning that all of my posts using this plugin show “Update + date” updated when the actual article isn’t being changed. Secondly, I want to first select related posts from my own site especially if I have been following the story such as a court case. Is this possible?

    Hey Jay,

Sorry to hear you don’t find the posts the plugin finds related. I wrote a post on what makes a post related here: https://www.relatedpostsforwp.com/makes-post-related/ If you’re using the Premium version you can change the weights to have more influence on what’s related, I wrote about that here: https://www.relatedpostsforwp.com/adjustable-weights/

About the related posts only showing up after publishing a post. This is correct. Because the plugins needs to scan all the content it only does so when the content is done.

    Kind Regards,

Hey, Thanks. I changed it to automatically and it opens a new window rather than a tab. I like it better this way. One thing I notice lately is that the temporary URL for the post is identified at the top. No problem but you can’t click on it or anything. Thanks, you’re a genius!
