    Hi there,

I have a general question: What triggers customer data to be saved within the Stripe Dashboard when a WooCommerce order is placed using this plugin?

We’ve been using this plugin for a few years, and, because we do not allow guest checkout, all of our customers who placed an order online with their credit card were saved in the Stripe Dashboard as “customers.” This would allow us to log into Stripe and charge a fee (add a payment), if necessary, for room damage or late cancellation, or to charge for the additional balance on the room without having the card swiped in person (we operate a B&B and accept online payment for room reservations). As of sometime early February 2017, some of our customers who have paid their 50% reservation cost online with Stripe have NOT been saved in the Stripe Dashboard as customers. This is a potential problem for us.

I am wondering if they are only saved in Stripe as customers when they check the box at checkout “Save to Account” or if there is something else going on that is interfering with the transfer of the customer information to the Stripe Dashboard.

Any information you could offer would be really helpful.

    Thanks so much!

    Danielle

    Hey Danielle,

There haven’t been any recent (close to a year) changes to when customer information is saved with the Stripe plugin.

Customer credit card information will only be tokenized and saved to Stripe if they check the “Save to Account” option. Otherwise, you will see their transaction in Stripe, but there won’t be an option to create new payments from there.

If you are finding that customers are not being saved in Stripe when using the “Save to Account” option, please let us know.

Otherwise, it may simply be that you previously had a customization that pre-checked this option for users, and it was lost that when updating your site/theme/plugins.

I hope this info helps Danielle ??
