Careful, fork in progress
-
Due to the unresponsiveness of the original developer, I’ve created a fork of the plugin, mostly focused on adding quality of life improvements for theme developers and fixing bugs.
It is currently not available from the WordPress plugin directory, and is developed in the open in Github: https://github.com/guss77/wordpress-vertical-scroll-recent-comments
To update your current installation to the fork, just download a ZIP file and replace the content of the
vertical-scroll-recent-comments
plugin directory with the files from the ZIP archive. The current “stable” version that I recommend installing is the filter feature branch, which you can find in the release list here: https://github.com/guss77/wordpress-vertical-scroll-recent-comments/releases
I’m working on additional development, currently around modernizing the code base, which you can find in this branch: https://github.com/guss77/wordpress-vertical-scroll-recent-comments/tree/feature/modernization , but additional feature work is planned including pause/resume of scrolling automatically. Please use the Github project “issues” feature to suggest new work.
I will also monitor this support forum and try to help where I can, but if you have issues with my fork – please report them in the Github issues.
I’m taking this work because I need to support a website that uses this plugin, and the plugin is mostly good work (and not that complicated), but I need additional features and I am willing to make the work but after 3 months of trying to create communication channel with the plugin developer, I gave up and created the fork. If the plugin owner – Gopi Ramasamy – will cooperate on adding new features and fixing bugs, I will gladly merge my changes back to the original plugin.
Best regards.
