Carousel adding extra slides

When selecting 2, 3, 4, etc slides in the carousel block – the correct number of slides loads in the editor – but on the frontend, an additional 2 blank slides are created/loaded.

Obviously this causes a blank section during the display.

It seems like this is a result of the centered slides option – which perhaps operates differently than I expect when displaying only 1 slide at a time?
