Carousel Navigation Not Working

I’m trying to show a carousel with one image that you can use the navigation to scroll through. But the navigation doesn’t show up. And the image is cut-off. How can I get it to show the whole image and the navigation?
I have the settings set to images displayed at a time:1, navigation buttons: yes, # of columns: 1, #of rows:1.
I’m using a widget in the sidebar on my page:
