    Hello everyone,

I’m currently developing a theme and I ran into the following problem:

There are carriage returns between my posts that mess up my theme because of the whitespace it adds. The carriage returns (not sure if I’m using the right term for this) are added to the html output after every post.

I took a screenshot of Firebug:

As you can see, there is a carriage return after every div.

I really don’t know what to do here, so any help is very welcome.

    Thank you,
    Maarten

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

Hi esmi, thanks for your reply. I’ve just discovered that this plugin fixes my problem: https://urbangiraffe.com/plugins/disable-wpautop/. I’m not entirely sure why, but I’m glad it did.

I already tested the theme for the problem, but it was not theme related. I didn’t know about the plugins though, that’s a very good tip! I’ll use it next time I run into a problem like this again.

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it!
