cart66 paypal standard setup and checkout

I have wordpress installed locally and I am trying to create a shop using wordpress and cart66 (both of which are new to me). Hoping someone can give me a hand with setting up standard paypal.

I have created paypal sandbox accounts (seller & buyer), however I am not sure how I go about implementing this in cart66. I had left the paypal details blank in settings and used the default settings in checkout. When I clicked on the checkout button I would get the message “your cart is empty” (which it wasn’t).

I had a poke about on the forums here and change the shortcode from the paypal express [checkout_paypal_express] (which told me I had an empty cart) one to [checkout_paypal] which, once I press the checkout button take me to a page which just says checkout on it.

I also put in the paypal sandbox account email in the paypal settings.
