I noticed that Cash App is now supported through Square, but when I enable it, it only shows up on the Checkout Page, and not on the Cart page, along with all the other payment gateway buttons.

Are there plans to add it to the other pages as well, similar to the rest of the Square payment buttons (G Pay, Apple Pay, etc)?

    Thanks

  • Hi there @turbodb ??

Thanks for reaching out to Woo Support!

I noticed that Cash App is now supported through Square, but when I enable it, it only shows up on the Checkout Page, and not on the Cart page, along with all the other payment gateway buttons.

This is correct as it is activated as a separate payment method and not as a digital wallet. This means it will only show on the list of payment methods.

Are there plans to add it to the other pages as well, similar to the rest of the Square payment buttons (G Pay, Apple Pay, etc)?

It tests/appears with block-based Cart/Checkout pages just fine.?

Moreover, the documentation for the Cash App Pay can be found linked here, for your convenience.

I hope this is helpful! Please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.
We will be happy to help you further.

OK, so are there plans to make the Cash App payment method available to the shortcode based cart pages? I have plugins and customizations installed that do not allow me to use the block-based cart page.

Additionally, users of my site only see the Checkout page after selecting a payment method on the Cart page, so if Cash App doesn’t show up on the Cart page, they will never be able to use it.

It seems strange that other payment processors from Woo appear on the Cart page, but Cash App does not.

From what I gather, you are interested in having the Cash App payment method on shortcode-based Cart pages, since your site’s current workflow is crafted in a bespoke manner.

Once the Cash App Pay payment method is configured, it will be listed among the available payment methods on the checkout and order pay page and customers will be able to pay using their Cash App account. (reference)

Moreover, starting with WooCommerce version 8.3, we’ve integrated?Cart, Checkout, and Order Confirmation blocks?as the default checkout experience for new installations.?(reference)

Nevertheless, feel free to submit a feature request, via this link, for the shortcode-based Cart page.

I hope this is helpful! Please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.

    Thanks.

I don’t have a bespoke checkout process. I have a checkout process that is straight forward and simple for customers.

    1. Add a Product to the cart using the WC Add to Cart button
    2. The product is added to the cart, and a Cart Widget shows all the items in your cart.
    3. At the bottom of the Cart Widget is a “View Cart” button.
    4. User clicks the “View Cart” button, which takes them to the cart, where all the payment buttons show at the bottom of the cart.
    5. Since I don’t require accounts, and all the Payment Gateways are login/supply addresses, the user just checks out from there.

Here are images with arrows (numbers match the steps above) that show the flow:

start at a product page such as
    https://adventuretaco.com/product/bed-rack/

After clicking View Cart, end up at:
    https://adventuretaco.com/cart/

I don’t understand why Cash App, which is part of the Square Flow, does not show up here, like G Pay and Apple Pay (and the other Square buttons), which do show up here. It seems inconsistent and incorrect.

    Hi there,

Just taking a look at the thread now and it sounds like some confusion might have slipped in somewhere.

If I understand correctly, the original premise of the ticket is linked to this part:

it only shows up on the Checkout Page, and not on the Cart page

This is expected. At the moment, CashApp will only show up on the checkout page and not on the cart page, regardless of whether the site is using classic/block checkout methods.

The reasoning behind this is that CashApp is seen as a Payment Method rather than a digital wallet (like Apple Pay or Google Pay).

I hope that helps to clear things up but please let us know if you have any further questions – We’re happy to help.

I have no idea what the difference/differentiation is between a Payment Method and a Digital Wallet. Those sound like terms that Woo has made up as some sort of internal terminology that you use to refer to how things work in your codebase.

I can’t imagine that a customer to *any* WC store would know (or care) either.

I’d love to accept Cash App, but right now I can’t because the purchase flow for my users only ends up on the checkout page *after* they choose their payment method on the cart page (because that page is so much cleaner/simlier/smaller).

    Hi @turbodb,

The distinction between a Payment Method and a Digital Wallet is not a terminology made up by WooCommerce but is generally used in the eCommerce industry. Digital Wallets often provide a faster checkout experience as they store users’ payment information and shipping addresses, enabling one-click payments. On the other hand, Payment Methods usually require users to enter their payment details each time they make a purchase.

However, we understand that this categorization may not align with your current site’s workflow and your customers’ expectations. We value your feedback and are always looking to improve our services.

At this point, I would recommend submitting a feature request to have the Cash App payment method available on the Cart page. This will allow our development team to consider including this functionality in future updates.

I hope this clarifies your concern. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
