• Hi there!

I have always used a lot of different themes for my site but now I wanted to make my own.
I came head to head with a problem of mine.
I don’t use my page as a blog rather than a normal page with different sections.

I still post everything in posts to get the good category structure.
I have seen a lot of themes using the pages as drop-down menus at the top of the site.
I want to do this but with categories.

Say I have a category names ‘programs’ and a sub-category to ‘programs’ named ‘for linux’.
At the top of the page I want the menu to list ‘programs’ and as a drop-down ‘for linux’.
And when you click ‘for linux’ you get to the normal page listing the entrys in the category.

The problem now is how do I costumize the category listing to be ‘

    • Programs
    • for linux

    ‘ ? ??

  • You could create your own with css, or you could use a plugin like WP-dTree.

Well I want to make my own.
I already know how to css it and make the hover thing work.
The problem I am having is how to I customize the output when getting the category listings?
I can output them as a ul with li’s in it but how do I make it so subcategories is made another ul with li’s?

    ??

I don’t understand. Isn’t that the output by default? Before the categories, there is a ul, then each category is wrapped in an li. The same thing happens with the children categories and so on.
