Categories being repeated
-
On my product shop page the categories are being repeated if you scroll down to load more products.

Can this be disabled so it’s only shown at the top?

Hi bender174,
Can you elaborate more on “Can this be disabled so it’s only shown at the top?”. I’ve looked at your site and it looks like you’re using some kind of infinite scroll mechanism which isn’t used by default by the theme you’re using (I checked and looks like you’re using Virtue Premium: https://themes.kadencethemes.com/virtue-premium/shop/)
If what you mean by “Can this be disabled so it’s only shown at the top?” is you don’t want to automatically load next products when you scroll the page down, the solution would be disabling infinite scroll mechanism you’re using. My best guess (by looking up your site’s front end code) is there is an option on your theme options where you can toggle on/off the infinite scroll mechanism.
Yes, I’m using Virtue Premium. I just need the categories (e.g. custom framing, framed, prints ) not to repeat when scrolling down.
I haven’t added any additional features or anything. This page is just the shop page that comes with the theme.
Please take a look at the theme option. Is there any field which is labelled “infinite scroll”?
Anyway, can you list all the plugin you use?
Yes there is. I disabled it, and now the [2] [3] etc page numbers seem to be broken links. Ideally, I still would like to keep the infinite scroll though.

Okay, how do you put the categories on the top of the post at the first place? I saw the demo site at https://themes.kadencethemes.com/virtue-premium/shop/ and it appears that the demo site has no categories on the top of the product section.
Okay, this may sound weird but worth a to be tried:
1. You haven’t set pretty permalink on your site
2. Try setting the permalink. Go to Dashboard > Settings > Permalink
3. Change the permalink to your liking. This will change your shop URL from https://www.art27.net/?post_type=product into https://www.art27.net/shop/This will make your site’s structure similar to the theme’s demo site. The more similarity you have, the easier for us to spot what makes your site different from the demo site.
Well, they just were added automatically to that page. And yes, they don’t on that page but they do here on a sub page https://themes.kadencethemes.com/virtue-premium/product-categories-grid/. So, I think it should at least somewhat work.
Also from looking at it more it seems the first page is just being repeated over and over again, instead of going to the 2nd, 3rd etc pages.
I see. Have you tried changing the permalink like I mentioned earlier? What is the outcome?
bender174, Yes this is a permalink issue, it you update your permalinks then it will work.
Also you can use the premium forms here: https://www.kadencethemes.com/support-forums/forum/virtue-theme/

Thank you. I will try this tonight and follow up. Thanks again.
I have tried setting several different common settings and Product Permalink Base settings. I’m not sure what the effect is. Could you possibly expand on how they are updated? I’ve read through the Codex to understand better, but I’m not exactly sure what is needed.
This was just answered on the premium forums. But for anyone interested, change the permalink to “post title” and save settings.

Thank you all, yes this is correct.
