• I have a WP-RC1.2 site with six main categories, which have 2 or 3 levels of sub-category each:
    About | History | FAQs
    About | Buildings | Photos | Before
    Each (sub-)category has one post.
Options | Reading is set to “Show 1 Posts Paged”
The lowest subcategory displays correctly, but the parent category shows the post from the most-recently updated sub-category.
    e.g. https://www.mysite.com/category/about/buildings/photos/before/
    will show the “before” photos.
    And so will https://www.mysite.com/category/about/
How do I ensure that the content for the highest level categories is displayed?
Any help would be gratefully received.
    Nick.

  • I’m not sure what exactly your saying. From your description it seems as though the correct behavior is happening.
If your looking within a sub-category, the parents content will not be displayed.
If your in the parent category it’s content will be displayed along with that of all those beneath it. Sorted by date.
Real URL’s help too ?? Easier to see what is going on.
    Hope this helps.

but would it be possible for parent categories to only display posts inside that parent en not those of the children? Just like the children not displaying posts of the parents.

I a similar problem; this little plugin might solve it quite simply for WP 2.0.x without editing source, at least for category pages:

    No SubCats plugin
