categories in jigshop no longer sort-able

This problem has exhausted our web developer, and our hosting company. I’m hoping to find help here (and will also be seeking help through the jigoshop forums).
We run a retail website, based in WP, with jigoshop to manage our inventory. Our site is current, our plugins are current. Our site has been fully functional for a few years now.
About two weeks ago our hosting company migrated our servers.
Ever since the migration (which leads me to believe it’s their fault) a feature I need/use regularly no longer works.
We have many categories on our site. You can see the categories on our inventory listings, you can sort through by the category on the website, when I am adding a product to our inventory, I can still see the categories and select the appropriate boxes. That all works just fine.
The trouble is that when I go into my products, there is a drop down menu for categories. That drop down menu is now empty, instead of full of our categories. I can still sort by date, but I cannot sort by category anymore, which makes managing inventory a nightmare.
We have tried adding new categories, and they don’t appear in the drop down menu. Our hosting company is stymied, and so is our developer.
Any thoughts? I have screen shots of my problem, because it is a little tricky to describe with clarity.
