I am using Events Manager in global tables mode. Categories are created at the main blog and are then available to the sub-blogs.

The issue is this: when the category is displayed on the event page on a sub-blog and the visitor clicks it, the visitor is taken to the main blog and away from the sub-blog. Very confusing behavior for the visitor.

It is also impossible to add a list of event categories in the sidebar. I noticed there is no widget for this so I am using the [categories_list] shortcode in a text widget. If I list them on a sub-blog the categories with entries on the MAIN blog with events are listed and it ignores the sub-blog categories that have events.

I would eliminate global tables mode and just let the sub-blogs create their own categories but there are a few categories from the main blog that I want to be able to feed into the sub-blogs.

Any suggestions about how to get a few categories of events to display on the sub-logs while keeping event categories blog-specific?

    Thanks!

I tested this and see what you mean. Will change that behaviour and make it an option in the EM settings

Whilst this won’t happen immediately, should be in the next few updates.

    Thanks, Marcus.
    The plugin is great.
Maybe an option for each category to be global or confined to the blog it is created in? And a widget that allows you to display categories for the individual blog with an option to display global categories? I can dream… ??

probably no, that’d be very hard to manage ??

however you can acheive the same result already. you can choose to show events with a certain category from a certain blog like this:

    [events_list blog=”x” category=”x”]

what i’m thinking is an option whether to host category pages only on a main site or within sub-sites too. the default would be category links point to the category page of the sub-site.

That sounds great – to let category links point to the category page on the sub-site as the default.

Any idea how long it might be before you are able to incorporate that? ??

I’m thinking I may add an additional taxonomy for sub-blog categories. Any reason not to do that?

    Thanks!

Any update on when this might be incorporated?

I see “Site Categories” on the event admin screen for events for subsites but the main blog categories are listed there.

    Thanks,

some steps in that direction. tighter integrations with custom taxonomies. will probably be a few more weeks for the MS stuff to get done.

    OK, thanks.

    Hi Marcus,
I’m interested in this feature, too. This topic is marked as resolved but I don’t find anything about this in the newest EM version.
Reading through this posts leaves me a bit unclear:
What did you exactly try to integrate along the global categories in multisite?
    Thanks ??
