Categories just disappeared….

  • Now, not sure when this actually happened.. but just gone into blog and all my categories have disappeared!

    If I try to re-add them, as they were, it says:

    A term with the name provided already exists with this parent.

    Anyone help, ive no idea how this happened, I havent installed any plugins for a while, and site was working fine…

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

    The only plugins active are the ones Ihave always used.. Although I was testing a few, which I had deactivated and removed, but wonder if they couldve left somethingbehind…???

    Ill try your suggestion of resetting this folder…thanks…

    Tried default theme, same result.

    Could the last suggestion have any advers effect on the website??
